LAURA
(velvetribbons)

This page has been made for one of the nicest most caring ladies whom I met back in the year 1999,
right here on webtv's little black box "LBB".
Laura was born June 6th, 1944. She lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and like many of us she had difficult mountains to climb, love to share, laughter to make one smile,
a great sense of humor, and cared deeply when helping others through their problems.

I know just bits and pieces of her life such as she was a beautician. She was in the Miss Michigan State competition.
Many who knew her laughed often because of her sense of humor. She would have been an awesome stand up comedienne.

Laura was a very complex woman, loved God, loved life, loved being with people, and valued her email friends.
She was devoted to her three children and family, and spoiled many pets over her life span.

Along with her hubby Larry, they worked at a campground
for several years. Sometimes the morning shift and she would talk about all the birds singing and critters running around looking for food.
On the evening shift they would watch the deer romping and listen to the songs of bull frogs.
They did volunteer work at their local SPCA and yes they even took a couple of
dogs home with them to raise and spoiled them big time. They even found a home for a dog.
She loved cats too and I am sure her cat Angel and bulldog Max are wondering where she is.

This is a picture of Laura and her son Daren, who has been fighting stage four cancer for over a year. He is forty one years of age.
Laura said Daren got on her case, to get rid of the big red coat, since she lost weight.
She told him she would get a new one, but was not giving up her beautiful suede coat. LOL!
She always had a comeback for everyone. Good, bad, or indifferent.

Laura passed away in June of 2011 and it is with great sadness to tell you that her son Daren passed away three weeks later in June.
He would have been 42 on July 2nd. Now they are together with his sister, who was thirty six years old when she passed on and God.

Laura was a part of a small group of seven ladies in email. We wrote almost daily
and were email sisters. Our own version of the Golden Girls. :-)
Here are just a few little comments some of them shared with Laura.

Janice Spicher, Penna.

Laura, even though we never met, we seven have made a bond. You, Barb, Fran, Leona, Judy, Cheryl and myself.
We lost Cheryl (California) and now you. My heart went out to you and your son Daren.
You were a good person, a friendly girl and someone who believed in God and His miracles. God has called you home and
now its your turn to rest, and I know you will be watching over Daren and all of your family and friends.
My only regret is that we never did meet. Till we meet in a better place than
here, know that we will miss you and your funny remarks. Love you ~ Janice

Frannie Gaines, Georgia

Laura in the last letter you sent to us on the last day or early night before your passing I feel you were perhaps trying to tell us and wanted us to read your thoughts of how much love you had in your heart. It is such a beautiful poem that touched my heart as with the rest of us I am sure. Thankyou, Laura.
It was a beautiful poem. and deeply touched my heart.
In all her laughter she never left Jesus out.
Please read: "Thank God"

Judy Colding, Florida

I remember an incident that happened to me, and she wrote me a personnel note. She said,
"Now Judy, life goes on, and you must get over this, pick yourself up and go on." Yep, that is what she said and she was right.
Then when Daren began to have his problems. I marveled at the strength she had. As we all know, just from being a friend, her strength was like a ROCK. I hope and pray that Daren can pick up that ROCK, even though she is gone.

((((((((((((Group Hugs))))))))))))))

Now Laura and Daren fly with the doves and sing with the angels in God's Heaven.
Good bye my friend and my honey boy, till we meet again.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY in Heaven to both of you from all of your email friends.
