NEW ADVENTURES BEGIN

There has been a big void in our life after our white boxer Lilah-Girl crossed the Rainbow Bridge on December 9th, 2010. She was the center of our world here in the mountain in central Pennsylvania
So we went to several shelters and kennels. On December 30th we found these two cuties in an over-crowded kennel.
The dark colored one is a 7 month old mini Schnauser Joe named Rags, because she looks raggedy LOL!
The other cutie is a 6 month old Peekapoo named Susie.

RAGS AND SUSIE

Rags is being shy and hiding behind the chair. Susie is just a tiny little dog right now, nothing more then a ball of fur. When we had her to the vet she weighed all of five pounds and six ounces. But oh how she loves the outdoors. She just runs and runs and Rags right behind her.
One day she was chasing a leaf, and a gust of wind came along and blew her over, but she caught that leaf, LOL! These pups lived in pens their whole young life before we got them. Now they are free to enjoy life. And we will surely enjoy them. We gave them baths, and they did good. Susie's eyes are dark around them like there was mascara put on, but it is colored from tears the vet told us. We will get that fur cleaned up in time. There will be more pictures and stories I am sure, over time, to make a new page.

Rags is black with touches of gray and white and is quite pretty. She weighed in at fourteen pounds five ounces which we will have to watch her weight. She was heaviers and lost some with all the running. She is a timid dog and at first didn't like us picking her up, but she is over that now. She would hide under the table where she felt safe, just like being in a pen. It took a few days to get her to feel safe with us and now she does.

We bought them new beds, and toys, and chewies. The chewies were a necessity, because Susie was chewing on anything wooden, and the two of them tore a throw rug into shreds. UH OH! What is going to be hard to do is walk them with leashes. They hate them on. Lord give me patience.

Susie is the curious one, investigating every corner, and Rags right beside her to help. This picture of her makes me laugh. She looks at Joe as if to say "Is there a problem" LOL!

This little rascal tore to shreds a pee pad we put down first night. No puddles around but what a mess. We are sure Rags helped but we know who starts trouble and that is Susie.

Rags being dark in color, we will get more pictures outside in sunshine. Joe used the flash on his Nikkon Camera but still dark. Rags has come a long way in just a few days. She feels safe, and has taken over Joe's big soft recliner chair LOL! If he wants to sit in it now, he will have to pick her up and hold her. Then of course Susie wants up to. Rags can jump on the chair herself, but Susie needs a lift-up.
We are learning to watch their behavior and when they need to go out. We take them on walks all around our acre. They love standing at the door and watch the squirrels and when outside they bark at the birds coming into the feeder. They both smell everything and track the smell of any critters around. So we are going to have to be very careful when the black bears arise from their winter sleep. We also know now, that when a stranger comes in the house like Joe's friend Tom did, they will bark, so there won't be anyone coming near or in the door we do not know about.

Speaking of bears, this is what we had to do this fall for the first time ever in the 29 years I have lived here and Joe eight years. This past fall one bear in particular would walk right along the side of house by the windows and look in and several times we have seen bears stand up at the windows soooooooo we put big heavy sheets of plywood up with braces so they don't get at the glass. How ingenious of us, but oh how UGLY.

For those of you who did not know our beautiful Lilah-Girl this is a picture of her playing with Diamondavid when he was here the summer of 2009 and he took a picture of her. They loved tormenting each other.
We all will cry for a long time, missing this remarkable dog. She really was very special with a personality that touched everyone's heart.

I hope our two little dogs will love the snow as much as Lilah did.
Susie and Rags do not mind the cold weather, just hope we can find them in the snow.
